Your Own Artwork
Artwork, design or typesetting it all amounts to the same thing and doing it yourself means you could save yourself a little bit of money.
If you would like advice email us at enquiries@greyhound-graphics.co.uk or call the team 0117 9759 007 and we can discuss your requirements.
Templates are also available using our Downloads page.
IMPORTANT - A word about what we want!!
Be aware of the following:
- We will cut your artwork to size, so you must leave a "bleed margin". This is a space of 3mm around the edge of your design which can be lost in the cutting. Do not run any text into this space.
- Your images should be saved as 300 dpi and preferably stored as .gif,.jpg and .png.
- If the paper you request to print on is too thin, heavy colours from one side of the paper will 'leak' through to the other side.
Design Your Own Artwork - step by step
1. Decide what you want to say
Well-written material will always enable people to make more informed judgments quickly. Don't cram it with text. People won't read it. Instead aim for clarity, strong argument and quality.
2. Text editing
a) persuasive,
b) interesting to read, and
c) catchy and memorable.
3. Images
a) pictures that you drew or created yourself,
b) pictures taken with a digital camera,
c) pictures downloaded from the internet.
Make sure you have permission to reuse these images for your artwork!
4. Layout design
Using a piece of plain paper sketch out:
a) Where blocks of text will go,
b) Where headings will go,
c) Where pictures will go,
d) How big the various bits will be.
Paper Sizes - the basics

A4 210 x 297mm
A5 148 x 210mm
